Ampoița Gorge

A nature reserve in the village of Ampoița (Meteș commune), 15 km from Alba Iulia on the road to Zlatna. The circular trail is easy, takes 1–2 hours and access is free. The Ampoița Cave and the Bat Cave are in the area; spring and autumn have the best colours.

Piatra Craivii

About 20 km north of Alba Iulia. Many archaeologists believe the Dacian fortifications of Apulon stood here.

Roșia Montană

The Roșia Montană Mining Landscape has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2021 (and is also on the list of World Heritage in Danger). The area has one of the most extensive networks of Roman gold mining galleries, and Roșia Montană has a Gold Mining Museum. We do not have the distance from the campsite.

TransApuseana

The mountain road DJ 107I, about 78 km, between Aiud and the Bucium–Abrud area. Details on its own page.
